Family History

Brief overviews of each respective family line is provided here. I have tried to provide coverage dating back to our earliest records of each family and extending, at least, to their respective arrivals in Canada.

The historical overview of my paternal ancestry, provided here, covers approximately, the period of 1735 to 1950 – five generations of our Loewen family.

The historical overview of my maternal ancestry, provided here, covers approximately, the same time period as above, and is very similar in terms of the family’s movements from Prussia – Russia – Canada.

This is my wife’s paternal family line. Our marriage was the third time that our two family branches “touched”.

My wife’s maternal line. Both the Peters and Klassen families lived in the same village in Russia and both joined the same group in emigrating to Canada. Both settled in Blumenort, Manitoba.

The Eitzens were my paternal grandmother’s family line. Of all my ancestors, they appear to have been the most wealthy.
