The Peters Make Russia Home

Daniel Daniel Peters migrated from Prussia to Russia in 1805 with his mother. Elizabeth (Brandt) Peters and with his grandfather Jacob Brandt (b. ca 1736). In the 1806 Molotschna Colony Census he is listed with his grandfather Jacob Brandt and his mother at Fuerstenau. In the 1835 Molotschna Colony Census he is listed at Rueckenau, and that he transferred to Rueckenau in 1822 from Schoensee. This is all to say that Daniel Daniel Peters first settled in the Molotschna Colony when he emigrated from Prussia.

He moved westward in 1838, to land near the Yazykovo Colony, and was farming there in 1852.  He was the founder of Petersdorf, an estate near the Yazykovo Colony.  In the 1850 Chortitza Colony Census he was listed at Chortitza #84 with his family. The 1835 Census states that he transferred to the Chortitza Colony in 1850, 12 years after he moved to Petersdorf. He had a total of 18 children.

The story of Petersdorf, found here on this site provides a more complete story of this remarkable man and his accomplishments.
