The Daniel Peters house-barn in Blumenort. Top photo taken in the 2000s, and the bottom one taken pre-1950.
Note the “summer kitchen” to the left of the house. It would have been used as the primary kitchen during the summer months, which would have included eating of meals.
Maria Peters grew up in this village, and married Gerhard Klassen, son of Jacob J Klassen (#15). In addition to Gerhard, the Klassens had five other married children living in Blumenort – #2, #10, #14, #15, and #22.
Aerial view of Blumenort; the USA border runs along the bottom of this photo.
Two views (above and below) of the same house-barn, taken from the eastern and north-eastern direction.

These buildings were still in remarkably good shape as late as 2000, notwithstanding their outward appearance.
